What’s the news?
Geben Communication has acquired Women Online, a content and influencer marketing agency. The acquisition is a strategic investment to elevate content marketing and influencer relations services, while also expanding into the national social impact space.
Who is Women Online?
Women Online is a boutique content and influencer marketing agency that specializes in national social impact and nonprofit clients. Women Online is also the curator of The Mission List, a remarkable influencer network of 2,400+ highly coveted opinion-shapers. Women Online’s best-in class work has been recognized by PR Week, the Webbys, the Iris Awards for excellence in parenting media, and PRSA.
How did this partnership come about?
Coming out of 2020, Heather wanted to take a bold step to create renewed momentum for Geben. After exploring a bunch of options, Heather felt that this acquisition would add the right mix of services and expertise to expand and elevate our content marketing and influencer relations services. Ultimately, this will create new opportunities for Geben to help clients accelerate growth and impact.
Why is Women Online a good fit for Geben?
Simply put, the coming together of Geben and Women Online just makes sense. Our clients, services and— most importantly — cultures are complimentary. (In fact, Heather and Morra talked about cultural fit before we ever negotiated dollars and cents.) There’s so much alignment that bringing these two companies feels like the natural next step for both teams.
How will this impact Geben’s work?
We’ve always focused on accelerating growth and impact for our clients. Now, we can do more. This acquisition expands our expertise, elevates our services, and creates new ways for us to support our clients’ growth and goals. As you know, we’ve expanded our services in recent years as clients’ needs evolved — adding paid search, paid social, SEO audits and strategy, and data analytics/insights to our offerings. This acquisition is an investment in the expertise and relationships that allow us to scale up our content marketing and influencer relations work. When we add new services, we’re confident that we can deliver them at the same high quality that landed us on Forbes inaugural list of America’s top agencies. The addition of Women Online is consistent with that philosophy. By acquiring Women Online, we’re expanding and elevating our content marketing and influencer relations services. Their best-in-class work has been recognized by PR Week, the Webbys, the Iris Awards for excellence in parenting media, and PRSA.
How does this impact Geben’s social impact efforts?
Geben means “to give” in German, so it’s only natural that when we decided to invest in our growth, we found a partner who shares our deep commitment to doing well by doing good.
The Women Online team has a long track-record of success implementing creative, innovative campaigns that shift behaviors, engage stakeholders, and educate audiences. By infusing their national nonprofit and social impact expertise into our service offerings, we can deliver innovative, effective solutions to brands dedicated to creating a better world. There aren’t many agencies with expertise in social impact that also provide all the traditional and digital communications services we can offer.
Simply put, this acquisition catapults us to the forefront of the social impact space.
Why is this good for Women Online?
This creates space for the Women Online team to do what they’re best at -- delivering exceptional influencer campaigns, content marketing and curated event experiences. By joining with Geben, Women Online will deepen their talent bench and increase their ability to offer complete communications services to clients.
What does this mean for the clients of Geben and Women Online?
This is a big win for both firms’ clients. Geben clients will benefit from Women Online’s incredible content and influencer marketing skills, while Women Online clients now have access to Geben’s full range of award-winning PR, social and digital marketing services.
